Tourism Ireland’s “Ireland Unrushed” campaign, now in its second year, is asking visitors to slow down in 2026, and we think that’s exactly right.
The best moments in Ireland — a three-hour pub session where the music builds, a conversation with a farmer at a crossroads, watching light change over Connemara — can’t be crammed between tour bus stops. They require time. They require staying.
The campaign launched in May 2026 across 15 overseas markets. It promotes slower options such as trains to Galway, Cork, Dublin or Belfast, greenways by bike and inland waterways by boat.
We’ve always believed the classic “10 days, 15 counties” approach misses the point. Ireland reveals itself to people who linger. The local who tells you where to really eat. The lane that doesn’t appear on Google Maps. The second pint that leads to the best story of your trip.
If you’re planning a visit, consider this permission to do less. Pick two or three areas, such as the most dramatic stretches of the Wild Atlantic Way. Stay longer. Walk slower. The country doesn’t need to be checked off — it needs to be lived in, even briefly.
