Connemara National Park is running family walks and events right up to November 1st, set against one of the west’s most dramatic mountain landscapes. The lineup includes a Samhain Traditions talk on ancient customs, a Halloween Ghost Scavenger Hunt, card-making and face-painting workshops for younger visitors, an evening “Park After Dark” experience, a lecture on Derryclare Wood, and the park’s regular guided biodiversity walks. We love this as an option for anyone who wants something more atmospheric than a street festival. The park’s wild terrain — bogland, peaks, woodland trails — offers a completely different energy than Dublin or Galway city centre.
For families especially, this works well. The events are designed for all ages (children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout, and good walking shoes are recommended), and the park itself is worth exploring even without the Halloween programming.
