Irish man takes “play this at my funeral” to a whole new level

Shay Bradley, an Irish man from Kilkenny, had the last laugh when he pranked his funeral attendees with a prerecorded message that played shortly after his coffin was lowered into the ground.

Quick Guide: Irish man takes “play this at my funeral” to a whole new level

  • Shay Bradley prerecorded a humorous message played after his coffin was lowered at his funeral.
  • The message included knocking sounds, complaints about being in the coffin, and a cheeky song.
  • Bradley was a 62-year-old Irish Defence Force veteran known for his dry Irish humour.
  • His prank brought laughter and smiles to funeral attendees, showcasing Irish humour traditions.
  • Irish dry humour often involves straight-faced jokes appreciated deeply within Irish culture.

“Let me out!” cried Shay in the clip posted by his daughter Andrea Sunday, amidst sounds of knocking on wood. “It’s f–king dark in here! I’m in the box!”

The video captures laughter as Bradley voiced his displeasure with his final resting place, complete with occasional foul language.

“Is that the priest I can hear? Let me out! Let me the f–k out!” he exclaimed before singing Larry Boone’s “I Just Called to Say Goodbye.”

The 62-year-old father, grandfather and veteran of the Irish Defence Force passed away on October 8. This last prank is sure to be remembered by those he left behind for years to come.

This is called going out in “style”!

Putting smiles on the faces of everyone at your funeral. Only in Ireland.

Irish humor might feel strange to those not born and bred in Ireland. Only an Irishman could tell a joke with a straight face, to another Irishman who appreciates the joke but without cracking a smile. This is known as dry humour and is a very popular pastime in Ireland.

Other stories, usually set in pub will be elaborate in will result in hearty laughter. It’s hard to know when an Irishman are pulling your leg or telling the truth but look for the twinkle in the Irishman’s eye.
