The Crawford Art Gallery, on Emmet Place in the heart of Cork, occupies a handsome 1724 Custom House building. The collection — around 2,500 works — spans Irish and European art from the 18th century to contemporary, with particularly strong Irish collections (Jack B. Yeats, Seán Keating, Louis le Brocquy, Mainie Jellett).
The highlight is the Canova Casts Gallery — a room of plaster casts of classical sculptures sent from the Vatican in 1818 as a gift to the people of Cork, making the Crawford one of the few places outside Rome to see them. Admission is FREE; café on-site; closed Mondays. 5-minute walk from St Patrick’s Street.
