Fitzgerald Park, opened 1906, is the best of Cork’s public gardens — formal flowerbeds, a lily pond, a sculpture walk, and the Fitzgerald Park Café. The Cork Public Museum (free entry) sits inside the park in a handsome Georgian house; it covers Cork from Neolithic times through the 1916 Rising and the War of Independence, with a strong Viking-age collection.
The ‘Shakey Bridge’ — Daly’s Bridge — is a 1920s suspension footbridge across the River Lee that connects the park to Sunday’s Well. Recently restored, it still wobbles when you walk on it (hence the name). Great stop for families. 15-minute walk west of the city centre.
