Spanish Witches Perform Irish Broom Dance

Spanish Witches Perform Irish Broom Dance – Performance of Irish Treble at the American College of Madrid on the occasion of its intercultural dance meeting. Lovely Irish Broom Dance!

Irish Treble is a group composed of dancers whose purpose is to spread Irish dance and make the audience enjoy vibrant rhythms and steps. A show for all ages that combines tradition and modernity and that includes traditional dances from the 18th century to modern “show-style” choreographies, to the sound of reels, jigs, slip-jigs and other typical rhythms of Irish music.

What is the Irish broom dance?

The Irish broom dance is an old traditional Irish Sean Nós dance that has been danced for over a hundred years. It involves leaping over a broom and performing various rhythmic steps to traditional Irish music, typically with accompaniment from instruments like harps and fiddles.

This style of dancing is usually more informal than other forms of dancing, and is often performed at gatherings or festivals. It is also used in competitive dance competitions to showcase the skill and agility of the dancers.

What Is Sean Nós Dancing?

Sean-nós dancing is an old style traditional form of dance originating in the Connemara region (west coast of Ireland). It typically features low to the ground stepping out to the music, with relaxed movements. Unlike stage show events like Riverdance, sean-nós dancing is often very impromptu, rhythmic, and low key. It is typically performed as a solo or in small groups, making it well suited for all ages.
