Trinity College Dublin’s The Hist Enters Guinness World Records as the Oldest College Society

Established in the year 1770, The Hist has garnered official recognition as the oldest student society and debating forum globally.

Over its illustrious history, The Hist has boasted an array of distinguished members, including prominent figures such as Theobald Wolfe Tone, Robert Emmet, Henry Grattan, Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, Douglas Hyde, and Sally Rooney. Even today, the society continues to attract high-profile speakers, as evidenced by the recent visit of Joe Kennedy III.

Celebrating this well-deserved recognition, The College Historical Society released a statement expressing their jubilation: “Following meticulous research, which included an extensive compilation of archival and photographic evidence, independently corroborated by expert witnesses, Guinness World Records has officially acknowledged The College Historical Society of Trinity College Dublin as the world’s oldest student society! This momentous achievement is a testament to our enduring legacy and dedication to the art of debate.”

At the Bar – The Easiest Job In The World

Paul James, a 35-year-old traveler from Australia, documented this amusing moment during his unforgettable break in the Emerald Isle. As he prepared to board his flight back to Australia at Dublin Airport, he couldn’t resist filming the unusual sight.
