Try the Guinness Timer ⏱️
A perfect pour takes 119.5 seconds — the rest, two minutes, gives the stout time to settle. Time your own pint and see if you wait long enough.
Big news from St James’s Gate: Diageo has committed €30 million to expand production of its alcohol-free stout right at the historic Dublin brewery, an investment reported by the Irish Examiner in June 2025. The brewery is set to brew 176 million pints of Guinness 0.0 a year, and bar sales of the zero-alcohol version rose 27% in the year to March 2025.
For those of us planning Ireland trips, this matters more than you might think. The expansion is about production, not the visitor tour, so the Guinness Storehouse experience itself isn’t changing. But the wider Dublin trip is becoming easier for non-drinkers: alcohol-free Guinness is now a regular part of the pint menu, so designated drivers on a Wild Atlantic Way road trip and travellers who skip alcohol for health or personal reasons can order the stout everyone else is drinking. The black stuff has been brewed at St James’s Gate since 1759. More than 260 years later, it’s still evolving, and making sure more visitors can raise a proper glass. For the story behind the brand, see the 9,000-year lease that built Guinness.
