Social media users have gone wild over this photo of an ‘Irish castle’ – but is it real, or just a clever Photoshop trick? This picture has been circulating on platforms like Pinterest, Imgur, and Reddit with captions claiming it’s a “castle island” located in Dublin.
Unfortunately, all you have to do is perform a quick Google Image search to find out that this photo isn’t quite what it seems. The image actually depicts Khao Phing Kan island (better known as “James Bond Island”) in Thailand with a portion of Lichtenstein Castle near Honau in the Swabian Alb superimposed on top.
As the experts at Viral Images Solved noted, “It’s actually “James Bond Island” in Khao Phing Kan, Thailand. The castle was placed on the photo using Photoshop. The castle shown is only a portion of Lichtenstein Castle (Germany)”.
The creative power of Photoshop shouldn’t be underestimated – and this fake ‘Irish castle‘ demonstrates that we should all be a bit more cautious when consuming social media content. While this image isn’t real, there are still plenty of gorgeous places to explore in Ireland!
