Pierce Brosnan Credits Guinness and Irish Genes for His Iconic Hair
When it comes to ageing gracefully, Pierce Brosnan seems to have it figured out. At 72, the Drogheda-born actor still turns heads—not just for his on-screen presence but for his enviable head of hair.
Speaking recently at the premiere of his latest film, The Thursday Murder Club, Brosnan revealed the secret behind his great locks: “It’s all in the hair, the old Celtic hair.” He went on to joke that his Irish genes, along with “potatoes, butter—and even the Guinness,” have kept him looking sharp.
Brosnan, who played James Bond in four films from 1995 to 2002, also credited his father for passing down the good-hair gene. “He had good hair too,” Brosnan said with a smile.
While chatting with press, Brosnan was joined by his son Dylan on the red carpet, further highlighting the family’s striking good looks.
The actor, who has long been proud of his Irish roots, added that he’s simply “doing my best” when it comes to ageing gracefully.
Still Linked to Bond
Though Brosnan has moved on from his Bond days, he still gets asked about the possibility of returning to the role. He recently hinted he could “get away with it,” though he’s content to leave the franchise in the hands of the next generation. “I adore the world of James Bond. It’s been very good to me—it’s the gift that keeps giving,” he said.
Brosnan’s remarks come as he prepares for audiences to see him in The Thursday Murder Club, directed by Chris Columbus and starring alongside Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie.
A Toast to Ireland
For Brosnan, it seems Ireland is never far away, even when he’s walking Hollywood red carpets. His playful nod to Guinness as part of the secret to his youthful appearance is a reminder of the warmth and humour that continues to make him one of Ireland’s most beloved stars.
