Not only are South Africa the Rugby World Cup champions, this time, they have beaten the Irish at their own dance.
The Robinson Dance Studio – which specialises in Highland and Irish dance – went all the way to Northern Ireland and snatched the 2022 World Championship title of Irish Dance at The 50th World Irish Dancing Championships which took place earlier this year in Belfast.
The Triskele
Junior Girls Figure 13 – 15 World Champions

The inspiration for this figure came from the Triskele symbol found at the entrance of Newgrange in Co. Meath.
The Triskele is thought to represent motion and rotational symmetry which aligns perfectly with the balance and flow of Irish Figure dancing.
The Triskele is a triplet symbol which is said to show that all things in the balance of life come in threes:
The body, mind and spirit
The earth, sea and sky
The beginning, middle and end
Celtic music, art and dance
Yesterday, today and tomorrow.
From the story to the choreography we highlight the theme of threes. Making this dance a team of 15 ensured that all movements can flow in groups of three. The dance also shows a balance between structure and flow. Newgrange with its long inner passage can also be seen in our figures and all circles highlight rotational symmetry.

The Robinson Dance studio is based in Corlette Gardens, Johannesburg.
Run by the Irish Dancing Commission, the competition features inserts by solo dancers and groups across both sexes for people from the age of 10 and up.
