The site was not developed as a tourist destination and, until before it became famous through Game Of Thrones, it was just a short stretch of a typical country public road. Now visitors from all over the globe visit the Dark Hedges as it is part of many tours to famous film destinations.

The Dark Hedges are located on a quiet road near the town of Ballymoney in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Lined with 90 with beech trees and twisted branches forming an arch over the road,Bregagh Road is a photographer’s dream.
The house and immediate grounds are privately owned and it’s understood Stephen Gray and business partner Jonathan Gwynne invested around £5 million in the hotel, golf course and manor after they acquired the Gracehill House estate in 2015, developing it into a popular 18 hole parkland golf course and The Hedges Hotel.
Can you drive through The Dark Hedges?
Legally it is not allowed to drive along the road, however there is nothing to physically stop you. At one end there is a very small car park and a hotel about 100yards away. It’s not far to walk, only about 1/4 mile from one end to the other.
Why are The Dark Hedges famous?
The Dark Hedges is an avenue of beech trees along Bregagh Road between Armoy and Stranocum in County Antrim, Northern Ireland which forms an atmospheric tunnel that has been used as a location in HBO’s popular television series Game of Thrones. Tour operators have been quick to organize tours to famous filming locations in Ireland.

My brother and his son visited Ireland the year before the pandemic. While there my brother took pictures of the Dark Hedges and I have the same one you showed on this site. Such a beautiful picture and place to visit.
