Meet the Willy Wonka of Ireland

Meet the Willy Wonka of Ireland – Jim Healy has been called the Willy Wonka of Ireland by local school children and his own kids must just love the fact that their mom and dad started a chocolate factory in their back garden..

From: The Chocolate Garden Website: https://chocolategarden.ie/

Established in 2001 by Jim and Mary Healy, The Chocolate Garden of Ireland is an Award-winning family business making hand made chocolates, premium ice cream (Tipperary Ice Cream brand) and a wide range of delicious treats. We began making waffles but soon diversified in to chocolate making, and in 2008, into making premium ice cream and sorbets. We also offer gift baskets to cover all occasions.

Our chocolates are gluten free; most of our ice cream varieties and all of our sorbets are gluten free. Our ethos is to use the finest quality natural ingredients to achieve the best possible taste. Among our range of products and services are:

  • HAND MADE CHOCOLATES & BARS
  • CHOCOLATE NOVELTIES
  • WAFFLES, ALL BUTTER BISCUITS
  • LUXURY CHOCOLATE SPREADS
  • LOLLIPOPS, HOT CHOCOLATE SWIRL STICKS
  • PREMIUM ICE CREAM, SORBET, FROZEN YOGURT
  • GIFT BASKETS
  • CAFÉ, ICE CREAM PARLOUR & INTERACTIVE VISITOR EXPERIENCE

The business employs around 20 people and is located in a rural area on the Carlow-Wicklow border. It takes its name from Ireland’s garden county – Wicklow. It moved from its original location in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow in 2009; the ice cream operations were relocated from Clonmel at this time also. The new premises also accommodates a visitor experience, café and icecream parlour and attracts visitors of all ages to explore the joy of chocolate-making for themselves.

Make sure you visit the Chocolate Garden when in the area.
