Thomas Connolly Wins “Pub of the Year” Award
Congratulations to Thomas Connolly Sligo, who have been awarded the prestigious ‘Pub of the Year’ award at The Connaught Regional Final of Irish Restaurant Awards 2023! Established in 1780 and licensed since 1861, Connolly’s is an iconic traditional Irish heritage pub located on Holborn Street in Sligo.
Throughout its long history, this authentic Irish pub has seen many illustrious visitors including Charles Stewart Parnell and even Mayor of Sligo Thomas Connolly himself! In addition to its extensive drinks menu and live music, Connolly’s once also housed a grocer’s shop where sugar, tea and whiskey were sold. It was truly a place for the people.
At the Regional Final of Irish Restaurant Awards 2023 held at Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa in Sligo, Connolly’s was recognized for its hard work and achievements amongst some of the best restaurants, hotels, cafés and pubs around. Over 600 people gathered to celebrate the success of this local business who have been serving Sligo since 1780!
