Similar to the practices observed in the airline and hotel industries, we may witness pubs adopting strategies to encourage customers to pay higher prices for their drinks during peak hours.

While you might be accustomed to paying premium rates for plane tickets or train rides during peak periods, the concept is now being applied to the pub experience. A prominent British hospitality company, Stonegate Group, which oversees chains such as Slug & Lettuce, has revealed plans to raise the cost of beverages when their pubs are at their busiest.

Amidst the challenging landscape of the hospitality sector, some view this move as somewhat risky. Indeed, there has been a noticeable backlash on social media, with one individual commenting, “If they proceed with this, busy Stonegate pubs might become a thing of the past.”

According to a spokesperson from Stonegate, the introduction of this pricing strategy, referred to as “dynamic pricing,” is a response to the escalating costs of staffing. They also assured customers that any price fluctuations would be transparently communicated.
