Traditional Irish dinner on the ranch! Have you ever tried Irish food? Corned beef and cabbage is my favourite St. Patrick’s Day dinner, much like a traditional Irish stew. I watched Darby O’Gill while cooking today. By the time I was done, it was more like a Danny Boy O’Connor House of Pain Shamrocks and Shenanigans! I made fresh gluten-free and regular flour Irish Soda Bread with buttermilk.

Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix. Add the raisins and butter last and mix well. Cook in a bread loaf pan or knead on flour and shape into a round mound, then cook in the oven. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 60 minutes.

Corned beef and cabbage should be cooled and stored in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
Can You Freeze Irish Soda Bread and Corned Beef & Cabbage?
Yes, you can freeze Irish soda bread by wrapping it tightly in plastic wrap and aluminium foil, then placing it in a freezer bag. It will keep well for up to 3 months. Corned beef can also be frozen after cooking; slice and freeze in portions for up to 2 months. Cabbage is best eaten fresh but can be frozen if cooked and stored properly.
Common Troubleshooting: Why Is My Irish Soda Bread Dense?
Key reasons for dense soda bread include overmixing the dough, using expired baking powder or baking soda, or not baking at the correct temperature. Be sure to mix just until combined, use fresh leavening agents, and bake at 325°F (163°C) for the full 60 minutes. Also, avoid adding too much flour when kneading.

The Irish do not, repeat do not eat corned beef and cabbage. Its bacon cabbage and goood fluffy potatoes.
