Is Sligo the Poshest County in Ireland?

Is Sligo the Poshest County in Ireland? – Welcome to our latest installment of “Is X the Poshest Place in Ireland?” where we investigate whether or not a particular county deserves the coveted title. This week, we’re turning our attention to the northwestern county of Sligo. So, without further ado, let’s begin our posh investigation!

The Posh Factor: A Detailed Analysis

In order to determine whether or not Sligo is the poshest county in Ireland, we’ll need to take a look at a few key factors. These include but are not limited to:

– The quality of the amenities (i.e. restaurants, hotels, etc.)

– The number of high-end shops and boutiques

– The average house price

– The percentage of people with college degrees

– The percentage of people who own their own homes

Let’s take a closer look at each of these factors one by one.

Amenities: When it comes to the quality of amenities, Sligo definitely has some posh options. In terms of high-end shops and boutiques, Sligo has plenty to choose from as well. Some of our favorites include Cavendish House Designer Outlet and Ferns Lingerie Boutique.

Average House Price: According to Daft.ie, the average price of a house in Sligo is €357,000. While this may seem like a lot, it’s actually on par with the national average. So, in terms of house prices, Sligo is neither more nor less posh than anywhere else in Ireland.

Percentage of College Graduates: According to CSO data from 2016, 36% of people aged 25-34 in Sligo have a third level qualification. This number is slightly higher than the national average of 34%. So it seems that education levels in Sligo are slightly above average, which could be seen as a positive indicator of poshness.

Percentage of Homeowners: According to CSO data from 2016, 68% of people aged 25-34 own their own home in Sligo. This number is slightly lower than the national average of 70%. So it seems that homeownership levels in Sligo are slightly below average, which could be seen as a negative indicator of poshness.

Overall, it seems that Sligo is a perfectly nice county with some lovely amenities. However, it doesn’t seem to stand out as being particularly posh when compared to other counties in Ireland. Thanks for joining us on this week’s installment of “Is X the Poshest Place in Ireland?” Tune in next week when we’ll be investigating whether or not Kerry is the poshest county in Ireland!
