Have you visited this world class Irish garden at Mount Congreve House
Mount Congreve House and Gardens situated in Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford – The 70-acre Mount Congreve gardens in Ireland have recently reopened to the public following a €7million development project. Featuring thousands of different trees, plants and shrubs, the stunning woodland gardens offer visitors three distinct walking routes with creative interpretation and play features that tell the story of the historical botanic collection.
At the entrance to the eighteenth-century country house is an immersive multi-lingual audio-visual exhibition showcasing its history and garden. Visitors can also marvel at one of the only existing hand-painted wallpapers from around 1790s Canton/Guangzhou – known as ‘Chinese Room.’
Highlights of the gardens include a Herman Dool Magnolia Walk, Walled Garden and Woodland Garden with over 50 varieties of Pieris. In spring/early summer, visitors can enjoy sweeps of Azaleas, Camellias, Magnolias and Rhododendrons while in late summer a three-quarter mile route boasts 90 different Hydrangea varieties. The Mahonia Walk brings cheer to winter months with its scented yellow flowers and red-flowering species.

The newly built visitor centre offers the Stables Café featuring local produce and vegetables from the Mount Congreve Kitchen Gardens as well as award-winning Irish arts and crafts, artisanal food/drink – including signature Mount Congreve Garden Woodland Gin and scented soaps. An unmissable opportunity to explore one of Ireland’s truly unique gardens!
