
From Dog-Friendly to Top Contender: Peadar’s Bar Secures Silver in Pub Awards
Peadar’s Bar in Moate has added yet another accolade to its growing collection securing a silver medal at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Following its recent triumph as the most Dog Friendly Bar in Ireland at the 2022 Pub of the Year awards Peadar’s Bar continued its winning streak by earning the runner-up position in the highly competitive Local Pub of the Year category during the 2023 awards.
The ceremonious event took place at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin where esteemed radio personality Anton Savage had the honor of presenting the awards. The coveted title of Bar of the Year was claimed by Paladar, a bar based in Cork amidst a crowd of commendable contenders.
Competing against an array of top-notch bars from various corners of the country Peadar’s Bar stood tall in the Local Bar of the Year category securing the silver medal.
This achievement stands as a significant triumph for the proprietors Peter Scully and Alan Conroy as well as their dedicated team. Situated in the charming town of Moate, the ‘old world’ establishment managed to outshine at least a dozen other establishments with its remarkable charm and offerings.
Interestingly among the finalists in the Local Bar of the Year category was Gertie Brownes Bar and Bistro which also shares ownership under Peter Scully and Alan Conroy.
Peadar’s Bar garnered attention across multiple categories in the 2023 Pub of the Year awards receiving nominations in no fewer than four separate categories. These included Best Value Pub Traditional Bar of the Year and Outside Space of the Year.
Gertie Brownes on the other hand found itself shortlisted for an impressive four awards spanning categories like Tourist Bar of the Year Gastro Pub of the Year Bar Food of the Year and of course the Local Bar of the Year.
In a pool of fierce competition with an impressive 600 entries from all corners of the country, the 2023 Bar of the Year awards marked a milestone as the most extensive participant turnout to date.
This only adds to the significance of Peadar’s Bar’s silver medal achievement and the commendable representation of local bars in the Irish hospitality landscape.
