Visit Kilbaha
Kilbaha is the very last village on the Loop Head peninsula and is tucked into a small, sheltered bay at the western edge of the Shannon Estuary. As you approach the village you will see a castellated turret, built by the Keane family for the Victorian ladies to enjoy the view. The remaining ruins of the Keane home are still visible nearby, on the top of the hill.
The village has a small but picturesque pier that was built in the early 19th century. The pier was constructed to cater for the large numbers of people making their living from fishing, seaweed gathering and piloting ships going up the Shannon and navigating them to the Limerick docks.
When in Kilbaha be sure to visit the famous Little Ark, a beautiful story of how people can be persistent in practicing their faith – https://www.europeanheritagedays.com/story/8b9dd/The-Story-of-the-Little-Ark-Kilbaha.
